Reading THSI NEWS STORY made me think...and rant and rage.
I think ALL PEOPLE are created equal. Not in the sense that all people are equally smart or talented or beautiful. But in the sense that all people are born with the same inherent rights. Among those rights, I believe is a right to respect. No person is born with a larger right for respect or with a right to more respect than anyone else.
I will NEVER voluntarily bow to anyone! It's humiliating and the British queen is in no way better than me or anyone else just because she was born into a specific family. I'm sorry but this makes me SO MAD >_>

Hey guys! Pay attention to me for a second! Consider this my pro-gay rights announcement/call to arms for the month or something.

From Avaas.org:

In 12 hours, the Ugandan Parliament may vote on a brutal new law that carries the death penalty for homosexuality. Thousands of Ugandans could face execution -- just for being gay.

We've helped stop this bill before, and we can do it again. After a massive global outcry last year, Ugandan President Museveni blocked the bill's progress. But political unrest is mounting in Uganda, and religious extremists in Parliament are hoping confusion and violence in the streets will distract the international community from a second push to pass this hate-filled law. We can show them that the world is still watching. If we block the vote for two more days until Parliament closes, the bill will expire forever.

We have no time to lose. Let’s get to one million voices against Uganda's gay death penalty in the next 12 hours -- sign now then spread the word about this campaign!

I don't really understand how it is possible to be homoromantic asexual or heteroromantic asexual. Like, I understand homo/hetero-romantic bisexual (ie, I'm attracted to both but only form emotional/romantic connections with men/women). But asexual? I don't know, maybe because to me what separates a really close friendship and a healthy romantic relationship is the fact that there's a sexual component in the latter that there isn't in the former but...I feel like if you don't have sexual attractions to people, don't care about the sexual component (not limited to intercourse here but like kissing etc), then your feelings toward them are platonic which then makes it a friendship. Perhaps, with guys this seems problematic because OMG if two guys want to hug or be sweet with each other they HAVE to be gay. But I think this notion is socialized and internalized to the point were such an idea becomes natural but in fact I don't think that's true. I think straight guys act like they have no feelings because they think they HAVE to act that way to be manlystraight//whatever not because, given a different mindset, they would naturally avoid hugging their friends. Sorry if this sounds narrow-minded to someone, I'm not trying to offend anyone. Everyone can identify as whatever they feel most comfortable with but xxx-romantic asexual, the concept of it, seems kind of...paradoxical to me.

The War and Peace Dolokhov/Anatole prompt was CLAIMED at [livejournal.com profile] queer_fest !  I DID NOT think this would happen! Now I must...IDK...sacrifice sheep to the fest God so that the person who claimed it actually comes through and write the fic and doesn't drop out.

OMFG!

It's inevitable: as we read LJs, we create mental pictures of each other. Post this on your journal to find out who/what your friends imagine you as!

I;ve posted pics of myself here, but just ignore those or think of what you imagined before you saw a real pic...

So…I’m pretty sure that the prom scene in QaF is just about one of the most romantic scenes ever. I actually went to re-watch it looking for some inspiration for a certain   something. But then, I ended up re-watching parts of that episode as well as well as the scene when Michael finds Brian scarfing and yells at him and says how Brian still hasn’t lost his “superpowers” and will always be young, etc. And I must note that Brian seems to accept this and after THIS he makes his decision to go to Justin’s prom. So I realized that…I really am more a Brian/Michael than a Brian/Justin shipper at heart, no matter how much I would like to be a BJ shipper primarily, seeing as how that’s both canon and a fandom favorite. I’m not sure what the problem is, since I most certainly think B/J is romantic enough and I like it surely and I WAS rooting for them when I was watching the show first time around…. I think it’s because I associate myself with Michael a lot more. At least the Michael that was before Ben came into the picture (gah). I guess I like the best-friends-turned-lovers thing. Maybe because I can relate to that better? I’m also not Justin’s biggest fan. I don’t hate him or anything like that but I can’t relate to him very much and the fact that he is so loved by fandom doesn’t seem to help. I also feel like Brian and Michael have this…is not simple chemistry, than at least this…bond. See, I guess it’s because I view the best relationship as being close friends + an element of attraction. Justin and Brian have all the attraction in the world, perhaps, but I don’t see the friendship. Even as their relationship develops…that connection is not there the way Michael and Brian’s is. Ben kinda fucks with Michael’s mind and sorta changes him in bad ways, I think, but even then…I think I would be so much more a B/J shipper is just the Michael element wasn’t there or if it wasn’t there in SUCH A WAY. Again, I relate to Michael. We don’t have the same personality or anything but I still relate to him, and especially his relationship with Brian. Maybe that’s the problem or should I rather say reason? Gah…IDEK.

So I went to an Ellie Goulding concert yesterday night :D it was really awesome (the bitchy girls next to us and the fact that it was really hard to see aside). The music was great and we got to do a "meet and great" which basically equals an autograph and a chance to take a picture with her. It was a really great night and I can't help but flaunt a couple of pics here :D

This meme is awkward and ummm kinda hard for me since I don’t really watch tv so… And I was actually trying to list actual TV SHOWS and not miniseries (as tempted as I was to sneak W&P and Brideshead in there).

1. Queer as Folk (USA)

2. Law and Order: SVU

3. LOST

4. The Tudors

5. Merlin (BBC)

I’ve been toying with the idea of an HP comm. focused on the First Wizarding War. This is probably brought on by the fact that I’m currently struggling to put together a FWW Death Eater focused vid.* Also, I’m selfish and want a comm featuring my fav time period in the HP fandom. It would also be really could if the comm got enough traffic to where we could run a prompt fest or an exchange (haha I wish)…

*Side Note: On Diary.ru there a team based game featuring the FWW. Order v Death Eaters. I’m, naturally, on the DE team. We’ve got fic writers and translators and artists and I’m the residing vidder. The hardest thing about making this vid, of course, is finding footage. Especially war/battle related things. I mean, I can cut bits and peaces from the HP films themselves but not much. The other kicker is that most movies (that I know of, and that’s not that much admittedly) don’t have their witches/wizards using wands which is very important for the HP world. SO if anyone knows any good movies/shows with usable footage….tell me!

I'm actually a bit suspicious about the accuracy of this but I do find it amusing that it identified me as introverted but wanting to be extroverted. Because that's kind of true...

Gah. Just realized recently that I've been defining "chan" the wrong way. As in, I was confusing it with pedophilia in a way, like parings like adult/child or very young teen. Apparently, "chan" means adult/minor parings (or perhaps minor/minor as well?). Well, I guess I made myself look a bit extra conservative on a few fest sighn ups then lately. I gotta stop that...meh. Hate miscomprehended like that.
